Leadership and Founding Story

Effort & Serenity Health & Wellness Community Services Inc. was founded by Drs. Garreston Boakai and Dahlene Browne Paasewe, a husband-and-wife team with over three decades of marriage and a lifelong commitment to healthcare, education, and community service.

Both retired physicians, they have spent decades serving the Milwaukee community as clinicians, educators, and mentors. They are also founding pastors of Word of Hope Community Church in Milwaukee and have been involved in healthcare education and student mentorship for more than 15 years. Throughout their careers, they have:

• Practiced family medicine for nearly three decades

• Worked in clinical support roles while raising their family

• Earned advanced degrees in Business Administration and Health Systems Management

• Mentored hundreds of medical assistant students, many of whom advanced into nursing and healthcare careers

  
  

Today, their legacy continues through both their professional work and their family, which includes educators, healthcare professionals, entrepreneurs, and community leaders.

Their decision to transition from full-time clinical practice was driven by a commitment to family, mentorship, and long-term community impact—values that now define the mission of Effort & Serenity Health & Wellness.
