The Milwaukee Public Museum (MPM) is a major natural and human history museum in downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Chartered in 1882 and opened in 1884, it is one of the oldest and most-visited cultural institutions in the state, housing over 4 million artifacts and specimens.
The museum is renowned for its immersive, life-size dioramas and walk-through exhibits—including the iconic Streets of Old Milwaukee and the Puelicher Butterfly Vivarium—which pioneered the use of realistic, three-dimensional storytelling in museums.
